July 25, 2006 EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN (CAN) by Jamie E17 Canstruction® is a New York-based charity trademarked by the Society for Design Administration, working with the American Institute of Architects and other members of the design and construction industry. It’s an annual competition where competing teams, lead by architechts and engineers, showcase their talents to see who can build the most astounding sculpture made entirely from canned food, stacking a variety of can sizes and shapes, using the product labels as the colour pallet. At the end of the competition all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centres. Canstruct a World Without Hunger!
