July 27, 2006 THE SKELETON CHAPEL by Jamie E17 If you are planning to visit the Czech Republic, you must not miss the chance to visit something extraordinary! The Sedlec Ossuary. A small Christian chapel in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic, about an hours drive from Prague. The Ossuary contains approximately 40,000 human skeletons that have been artistically arranged to form morbidly fascinating sculptures, decorations and furnishings. Four enormous bell-shaped mounds occupy the corners of the chapel. An enormous chandelier of bones, which contains at least one of every bone in the body, hangs from the centre of the nave with garlands of skulls draping the vaults. Plus other boney artworks.
