November 24, 2006 HOODTE COUTURE by Jamie E17 My friend, fashion designer Oscar Quiroz was born in 1982 in the small suburb of Barnet, just outside north London. He started designing menswear for himself and other like-minded individuals after quitting a career in financial forecasting. He has transformed the hoodie into a more sophisticated, smarter garment with a monk-like semblance adding panels and ropes to the waist, including monastic floor length mohair coats, hand-knitted scarves embroided with chains and tops with removable panels of nails on shoulders and hood. Oscar has previously work in London for Swedish designer Ann-Sofie Back and edgy romantic Russell Sage, and in Paris for conceptual fashion label Bless.
