October 9, 2004 Handbags, shoes, ART HAPPENING, gloves by Antonia Leslie 2 nights ago Celine & the Purple Institute gave a mixed media exhibition in their newly refurbished offices.The party spilled into the boutique where champagne & fruit juices wafted around the hand bags & gloves, whilst red carpet covered the tarmac of Avenue Montaigne.The list of contributors was long,including Mark Borthwick, Mario Sorrenti, Juergen Teller, Rita Ackermann.The title of the show was "Les Annees Fatales" which I think baffled most people. The very wordy press release that was kindly given at the door did not enlighten further on the fatality of the nineties. A huge collage by Mario Sorrenti reminiscent of the 1950's brightened up my evening. Celine and The Purple Institute
