DERYCK WALKER: ORACLE
by Jamie E17

Deryck Walker’s ‘Oracle’ collection for S/S’07, Was influenced by the warped effect of Francis Bacon’s work, Deryck has taken the effect of ‘lines’ from his work and transplanted elements to become collars on his shirts. Including a waisatcoat with scored panels, inspired by Bacon’s ‘Figure With Meat’ 1964

A preppy element also featured with pleated shorts, masculine looking, conjuring up 50’s youth culture with their clean lines and smartness. 50’s 3D movies were an influence with the white plastic framed green and red lens eyewear. Other features included transparent clear vinyl shirting, body armor and a new take on layering and how differing fabrics/materials depict the same fright of movement when worn, depictive of Bacon’s work – he would add lines to ‘jolt’ the image.
