Edinburgh-based artist Gregor Laird had a very successful year in 2006, debuting his first exhibition of artwork since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art, and the success looks set to continue well into 2007 and beyond.

Taking a quirky, kitsch and humorous approach to themes of sexuality & fantasy, and by combining elements of desktop bricolage alongside tactile production, incorporating feathers, spraypaint and texture, the artist's work aims to draw individuals into his own constructed world of lush and verdant artificiality.

His latest work - UTOPIA - chronicles the Fall of Adam & Eve from grace, appropriately displayed as a mural on the wall of a chic new bar.
Having many fans already, this is a queer Henri Rousseau for the '00s who's set to gain legions more.
