HELLO ART DECCO
by Antonia Leslie

The cartoon like animals were there but mixed with the 1930's concubine style and very thick soled shoes. Some silhouttes look so Biba 70's. Cloche hats kepts the heads small and unobtrusive, so the triangular cape shapes were in control with tiny legs and "olive oyl" feet. Lots of silk satin and velvet all in very subtle colours.

There were overlapping triangle prints, very art decco, and her animals popping in on printed silk dress straight off Japanese vases. Split sided long wide bloomers just begging for a cigarette holder or opium pipe. Suddenly very geometric wool capes and knitwear...what a suprise. All in all the last emperor would have been very happy with all these wives.
