Exoskeletron
by Jamie E17

“The Transfomers”, a big childhood obsession, initially inspired David Mattsson’s debut collection “Exoskeletron”.

The Transformers inspiration then developed into the concept of recreating exoskeletal silhouettes not only through cut, but also through his choice of materials. As the design and mechanical structure of robots are often humanlike, he has aimed at recreating the relationship between exoskeletal creatures and the human anatomy.

“Exoskeletron” is a futuristic approach to menswear, but the main materials used in the collection are pretty low-tech, like leather, wool, and cotton. The leathers play an important part of the material chosen as they represent exoskeletal scales to protect the vital organs, or the robot equivalent, the internal hardware.
