GILES DEACON SPRING/SUMMER 2008
by Anthony Symonds

As Jane Seymour once said ‘Romance is back’ and it appears that Giles is here to tell us all about it.
Gone were the studs and sheath minis of last season, replaced by a curiously girly cocktail of sugared almonds, tulle underskirts and frothy florals.
The sweetness was tempered in part by a concise opening passage of black denim with contrast cross-stitch, and some modern looking (if a little Lanvin-esque) photo prints bringing up the rear. The silhouette statement however was a little harder to define.
Giles has often declared his desire to court an older customer and in this regard there was much to please.
I don’t know if it’ was the vodka cocktails or the frazzled pigtails, knee socks and t bar sandals but I did leave humming ‘my boy lollipop’ which is never a good sign.
