CHARLIE WHITE'S MONSTERS
by Jamie E17

American artist/photographer Charlie White, has created some if the most arresting and trenchant images in contemporary photography. He constructs them like a Hollywood director. He orchestrates scenes, commissions sets, hires actors and employs a visual effects team. Aliens, puppets, monsters and children's imagery are all part of Charlie's visual vocabulary. He captures the dramatic elements of narrative, character and situation. His images challenge us to explore our deepest fears and desires. He uses a combination of fiction, artifice and make-believe to represent the human condition. His new book 'Monsters' is a culmination of Charlie's work over the last decade. Powerful, disturbing, and revelatory photographs creating fiction to understand reality.
