Berlinale and The TEDDY Awards
by Anett-Patrice van York

Excellent films with deep and important meanings regarding the problems in today’s society, such as poverty or discrimination were shown at the Berlinale festival and especially at the TEDDY Awards.

A huge subject was the Islamic torture problems with homosexuals, who were all put in prison because of their sexual preference. Victims were on stage telling their moving stories. This movie "Be Like Others" by Tanaz Eshaghian won The TEDDY Jury Price.

There to support were Berlin’s mayor Klaus Wowereit, Tilda Swinton, Klaus Kinski’s widow and son Nicolai, who showed Kinski’s Jesus Christ performance flipping on stage, Veruschka and also Edson Cordeiro who was giving an outstanding Klaus Nomi tribute performace! - among many others!
