WARM LEATHERETTE
by Antonia Leslie
The music was him and the clothes and the accessories.A lonesome guitar accompanied the models up and down the catwalk and that was Yohji playing.Yohji the designer used quite a lot of leather this time, moulding it to the body and leaving the edges raw and uneven like empty world maps. This added not only shine but a series of differing blacks in the same outfit which effectively becomes a colour palette. There were also sudden bursts of sharp colours, electric royal, perfect peach and crispy caramel not to mention red.The eternal Yohji shape off the full skirt and clipped jacket top somehow brought Mary Poppins to mind but only for a second. The final four girls came out in coats of classic inspriration (camel and trench) and the new leather bags made in collaboration with Hermes.
