Oh I never noticed it
by Antonia Leslie

If you are ever in Paris and fed up with the usual visits to the Louvre, why not try the Musee des Arts et Metiers. Although the imposing building has stood on the corners of three streets in the Marais since 1793, it largely goes unnoticed even by Parisians. Just step inside and you will see the most mysterious of museums. Part of the contents are even to be found in a 13th century church. Early Citroen cars parked between the altar and the apse, are guarded by the Statue of Liberty and a rocket engine. Suspended aeroplanes fly silently passed the stained glass windows and just for fun, the yellow and black Renault/Alain Prost formula one racing car is permanently pitsopped. Not to be missed is Foucault's pendulum which he used to demonstrate the earth's rotation. Oh a fairy light horse
