PINK PUNK PRINTS PARIS
by Antonia Leslie

If you had to do a retrospective and needed some elegance and colour on a grey March day,you could do no better than Zandra Rhodes. The show was full of marvellously iconic clothes and I could see Vogue in the 70's. Ingrid Boulting by David Hamilton with crimped floating hair and oversize A lines. I had forgotten how sumptuous and rich were her print designs. They glided down the catwalk on silk chiffon and came in and out of focus with each step. Elegant triangular maxi dresses that made you dream of wafting past the pool at Raffles and kissing Marc Bolan. So happy to see again the felt gore coat with dinosaur plate piped edges and her designer punk silk jersey with delicately finished holes and beaded safety pins, loathed by real punks at the time. Does she have pink hair? Of course.
