'Unknown White Male' At Sundance
by Simone Bowkett

British imput at Sundance Film Festival includes director/producer team Rupert Murray/Beadie Finzi's documentary 'Unknown White Male'. The film tells the true story of Doug Bruce, who lost 37yrs of his life memory to amnesia. First we see a reconstruction of how he is found wandering around Coney Island, disorientated, before police take him to a psychiatric ward. In the months after, we follow him as he relearns his life, from his home to his family. He discovers anew what he likes + dislikes in music, art + basics such as food. Finally, there is a reunion back in London with old friends 1yr after his amnesia. This is a fascinating account of a man's life + of finding out who you are, with no past to base yourself upon. There is only future. Sure to be one of the hottest at Sundance.
