SHAKING THE HABITUAL
by Kim Jakobsen To

Having seen The Knife's Shaking The Habitual show in London, Barcelona and Oslo, it was headlining at WayOutWest (in the local city forest) The Knife really blew my mind. The home audience gets it and they love it. After Karin Dreijer's old bandmate in Honey is Cool (and now Sweden's biggest indie star) Håkan Hellstrøm played an explosive gig on the same stage an hour earlier, the audience was full of fire and ready as ready can be when Shaking the Habitual started to pump out tribal rhythms and electronic blissfull noise. It cleansed our minds and left us screaming for more melodic euphoria - if that is possible. After having mainstream hits such as "Heartbeats" many people dislike their new album - but failing to recognise that music is not always organic salad making soundtrack tunes.
