DANNY PASSARELLA
by Gemma Winter

Everyone remembers their first time, mine was Shinobi in the local fish and chip shop, it was the first arcade machine I got to know and love. Every Friday I would beg, borrow and steal as many 20p pieces as I could, and pray there wasn't a huge queue for the machine.

This feeling of youth lost through low bit graphics and brightly painted wooden shells is one of the themes of Danny Passarella's latest photographic piece 'Fantasy Scenes' of ten hyper real images of monolithic, iconic, arcade units, set in the landscape of Whitley Bay; home town to Danny and once upon a time, a myriad of arcade machines along the Spanish City area.
