THEY USED TO CALL IT THE MOON
by Gemma Winter

Expanding on an earlier exhibition at the smaller sister space Baltic 39, "They used to Call it Moon" explores Lunar mythology. Artifacts of original NASA maps and photos from the Apollo missions (1969-72,) blend seamlessly with imagined future visions both utopian and dystopian in their nature, as the democratisation of space travel & exploration continues to evolve.

One of the highlights of this beautifully curated exhibit has to be the pieces from the Kubrick archive, surrounding his film 2001: A Space Odyssey; including sample scripts, letters between Kubrick and Arthur C Clarke as well as stills and special effects shots and other memorabilia created for the iconic film.
