ANDY WARHOL: SELF-PORTRAITS 12 feb-2 may
by Kenny Campbell

SCOTTISH NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART
75 Belford Road, Edinburgh

A powerful new exhibition of work by Andy Warhol will have its only UK showing. One of the giants of twentieth-century art, Warhol created some of the most memorable images of the postwar era, transforming publicity photographs of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley into icons of popular culture. Though ‘image’ is at the heart of his work, Andy Warhol: Self-Portraits will, surprisingly, be the first museum exhibition to be devoted to the artist’s presentation and manipulation of his own likeness.
