March 14, 2005 Surprise PA by Gene Sirene by Tatu Vuolteenaho After little extra coat check queuing we stepped into the lounge at The End’s Superfreq night. Dollz at Play’s electro house sound had inviting warmth to it. Andew Weatherall played in the main room and the best thing about his set was the variety. Tough underground techno went well with lighter house and more experimental beats. It inspired and ideas started coming to the surface. When it was time for Mr C to take over the decks we got an extra surprise PA by Gene Serene. Her aggressive raw shouting-singing style combined with fat beats went down well. Mr C got us going to the end. Many records he played had this kind of sound in them: flute, church organ and drum morphed together with extra spacious effects thrown in.
