Süd – from haunting to hypnotic
by Tatu Vuolteenaho

Music was great as expected at the Süd party. Lump was playing when we entered. We liked the sound; too bad we didn’t arrive earlier. Nick Craddock (pictured) played funky twisted rhythms and there were jazzy piano thrown in too. PTR’s live show with her video art was captivating, haunting, mad, and entertaining. Lakuti’s deep, minimal and tough sound had interesting twists and turns. Tracks had noise sounds, which created effects in experiencing the space changing the mood from dense to spacious and beyond. Last was Portable’s live set. If you were not aware that it was a live act you might have thought that this DJ can mix absolutely seamlessly. We recognized few bits and pieces from his releases, but the whole set was basically a great new 90 minute live serial music composition.
