July 24, 2005 HK119 by Princess Julia HK119 Combining theatrics with a modernist overview HK119 is about to unleash a breath of fresh air into art, music and image. Her performance consists of a series of props and film installation. She, herself becoming part prop dressed in a silver bodysuit laced with a wire mesh shoulder adornment, coiffured quiff and surrealist double eye socket make-up. She slivers, shudders and stamps against an electronic soundtrack of her own observations. Her vocal range is powerfully scenic and her tunefully diverse songs are catchy in a traditional sense. 'Pick Me Up', due for release on One Little Indian in mid September is a classic of her repertoire and will no doubt pave the way for her debut album out early 2006. More on HK119
