July 25, 2005 DRAWING RESTRAINT 9 by Rob Diament Drawing Restraint 9 is the new film by Matthew Barney with a beautiful soundtrack composed by Bjork. Matthew Barney is a visual artist whose ambitious, rigorous multimedia work encodes esoteric meanings while providing lushly immediate aesthetic rewards. He is best known for The Cremaster Cycle, the sprawling sequence of five films made over ten years which was the subject of a recent Guggenheim retrospective in New York. Bjork also makes an appearance in the two hour and fifteen minute film, which was shot in Nagasaki Bay on board the Japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru. Drawing Restraint 9 (Click here)
