October 28, 2005 roller rink by Stik Unless your in Goa or Bollywood letting your hair down and hips swing around is a rare thing in India. The roller skating rink, off Bazaar road, Kodaikanal, in the mountains of Tamil Nadu is the closest I've come to shaking my toosh and cutting loose in a while. Open from 9am to 9pm everyday and serving chai and non-alcoholic pop you can roller round to the high-pitched sounds of bangra. The sound system is a small two speaker hi-fi and the clientle mostly teenage hand-holders. its smiles all round and sub-dued giggles when your ass hits the ground. the rink is actually tiny but we all know how much fun we've squeezed out of the ghetto and that aint exactly expansive!
