A WOMAN WALKS INTO A BAR: 22-24.11.05
by Princess Julia

Jonny Woo and Peter Podworski present a thrilling diversion in the form of this multi-layered theatre piece. Woo’s increasing repartee is incorporated in a five character play, acting as a cheesy t.v. host, hapless barman, gormless soap actor, soap director and the central character - the woman who walks in the bar. With the aid of animation, music and film the story takes on a surreal quality as each scene is striped away revealing sub-plots and increasing intrigue. The subtle comedic talents of Woo climax in the central scene where, in a film noir style the woman is shown entering the bar (we are sitting in) and enacted in real life emerging from the street outside.
Projected onto a screen this double vision gives the viewer a real sense past and present.
