December 29, 2006 GOD LOVES FUCKING! by Oliver Frost & Marc Massive Gilbert & George’s new show entitled SONOFAGOD PICTURES was Jesus Heterosexual has opened at the White Cube, Hoxton. The new works are in the usual contemporary and disturbing for some stained glass style, that to be expected from G&G. This time the subjects religion, and with statements like “Jesus says forgive yourself. God loves fucking! Enjoy” it’s hardly surprising that Christians are in uproar. These ritualistic works containing crucifixes and pixie charms have lead to Tory MP Ann Widdecombe labelling the work as “blasphemous and extreme”. In our opinion the shows far superior then G&G’s last show at the White Cube entitled ‘New Horny Pictures’, which we felt wasn’t particularly well developed. Well worth a visit! www.whitecube.com
