The Hotel Salomon de Rothschild was set aside for the Galliano show. One of the hidden neoclassical gems of Paris and rarely visited by the public. Under the painted sky ceilings edged with elaborate wooden frames, we were treated to a joyful return to the bizarre with strange wedged shoes and "couture" with a modern twist using rigid silks to make graphic shapes. Duchess satin and organza looked like more like neoprene as the long legged silhouettes walked past. Clinched waists and cropped jackets in a palette of subtles and brights strangely bought Courreges to mind. It was nice to see some fun with fashion, it has been a serious season.
