It was a bit difficult to leave the sunshine and go underground, knowing that we were about to also see winter clothes. Then once the show started we were saved by very bright blue or green satin ribbon decoration, which visually jumped off black matt wool, a modern day take on mayor's garb or medal ribbons. He repeated this with white wool asymmetric bands giving a slightly bondage feel to a winter coat. The clothes had a lightness about them that belied the use of heavy fabrics and made you want to wear them at any time of year. Refined checks and tweeds and nice boots also tripped down the catwalk and made you think of Mrs Wallis in her elegant 30's chic. Thank you Mr Tayama for a clever chic start to my show week.
