We were all waiting for the bright colour and fun of this show, from the childlike wallpaintings of the set, to the headgear of hybrid student graduation caps, and the feet in leather socks tucked into eighties court shoes. Tsumori's shoes are always memorable. The looks had everything going for them in terms of colour, geometry and applique. It felt like we were swinging from a Bridget Riley exhibition to a Jamaican beach bar in the same minute, with appliqued parrots and horizontal Riley triangles. None of these very different elements were out of place, quite a feat for such diversity but then that is her speciality, isn't it. Tsumori's way of designing means that every show connects with the past years. She does not follow trends so that the show is always hers. Thank you Mme Chisato for this riot of everything and the present of the bag on the seat.
